How does the Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai robot vacuum work?

The Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai robot uses a unique three-step cleaning approach, for consistent and precise cleaning. Green-spectrum LED illumination highlights the presence of dust, debris and stains on the floor. An Ai-powered HD camera identifies the type of debris or spill by comparing it with nearly 200 types of hidden household substances, helping our robot adapt its cleaning behaviour to remove each type of dirt or stain. Then our conscientious robot checks the floor to make sure the stain has been removed. If the stain has gone, the robot moves on. If part of the stain is left, our robot will continue cleaning, passing over the area again and again until the stain has been completely removed. 

How does the docking station work? Does it clean the robot too?

Our hands-free hygienic docking station self-empties, self-cleans, refills and recharges the robot – all automatically. It empties your robot’s dry bin and dirty water tank, cleans its microfibre wet roller with heated water, refills the robot’s clean water tank and recharges its battery. You don’t lift a finger – this all happens completely automatically.

After the robot has completed its clean, the docking station supplies 60°C heated water to wash the wet roller clean, then dries the roller with 45°C hot air to eliminate damp environments where bacteria can thrive. This means the roller is clean and dry and always ready for the next task.

What features and technologies have gone into the Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai robot?

Our robot features a new stain detection system using advanced Ai. It detects and identifies stains with Ai-powered front-facing HD camera. 

Our new hygienic cyclonic docking station empties dry debris using 10 powerful Dyson root cyclones. The dock washes and dries the robot’s wet roller, so it’s always ready to clean.

You can also customise every aspect of your cleaning routine with the MyDyson™ app. Choose from four different cleaning modes: Auto, Quick, Quiet or Boost, and four different cleaning types: vacuum and wash, vacuum only, wash only, or vacuum then wash. 

You can also use the app to decide the order your robot cleans rooms, set scheduled cleaning times, initiate ‘Target cleans’ if you spill a drink, decide how many times the robot will wash a chosen room, and adjust the hydration level of your robot’s wet roller. All this helps tailor the right cleaning method to suit every room and floor type in your home.

How does the wet roller work?

The Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai robot features our new self-cleaning, microfibre wet roller for washing hard floors. The roller cleans itself every time it rotates, removing dirt and debris from the roller as it goes. Its 12-point hydration system delivers fresh water to the roller, so it always cleans your floors with clean water, rather than spreading dirt around your floor. The roller also automatically extends 40mm to clean right up to the skirting board, where dirt often accumulates.

Is the Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai robot suitable for homes with pets? Does it pick up pet hair?

Yes, the Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai robot has been engineered with busy households, children and pets in mind. Suction on carpets is boosted up to four times to remove microscopic dirt and debris as small as allergens and pet dander. The 17cm silicone brush bar is suitable for all floor types, with nylon bristles to remove and de-tangle pet hair. 

What type of flooring can the robot clean?

The Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai robot is engineered to vacuum all floor types. The anti-tangle brush bar is suitable for both soft and hard flooring, from carpets and deep pile rugs to laminate and tiled flooring. Suction on carpets is automatically boosted up to four times for a deeper clean, removing microscopic dirt and debris, as small as allergens and pet dander. 

The robot’s wet roller is engineered to remove both wet and dry dirt, stains and debris from hard floors, e.g. sealed wood, tile, laminate, ceramic, vinyl and linoleum. 

How suitable is the Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai robot for homes with young children?

The Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai robot is engineered for busy family homes. It uses green LED illumination because it’s gentle on sensitive eyes, both for young children and pets. The robot also features a Quiet mode setting if you’d like to clean your home without making too much noise, or disturbing a sleeping partner or child.

How do I control the robot?

You can control the robot directly from your smartphone, wherever you are, using the MyDyson™ app. The app lets you map your home, set cleaning modes, schedule cleans for different days and times, designate no-go zones, receive real-time cleaning reports, and much more.

How does the Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai robot identify and classify liquids, stains and debris?

The Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai robot spots stains with its HD camera aided by LED illumination, then uses Ai-driven image recognition to identify what each stain is based on characteristics such as colour, shape, size and reflectivity. The robot will compare its HD image of the stain with a memory bank of nearly 10 million annotated images of common household dirt, stains and spills to identify it. 

Once the stain is identified, the robot will calculate how many times it needs to pass over the stain to remove it, increasing to up to 15 times for stubborn stains.

While our robot is removing the stain, it uses machine learning and its HD camera to re-scan the area to double-check and confirm the stain has been completely removed, before continuing to clean the rest of the area.

Yes, the Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai robot works hand-in-hand with the MyDyson™ app, enabling you to control your robot from your smartphone, wherever you are. As we continue to enhance the user experience, we recommend activating automatic updates, so you always have the most up-to-date features. 

The MyDyson™ app currently includes the following features:

How does the Dyson Spot+Scrub™ Ai robot ensure user privacy?

Dyson takes privacy extremely seriously: we have strict measures in place to ensure Dyson customers feel safe with our products in their homes. Our robot cleaner’s built-in camera is not used just for obstacle detection. The camera supports several important features beyond recognising objects. For example, it enables the robot to understand the layout of the home, create floor plans, navigate efficiently, customise cleaning zones, detect stains and avoid obstacles. It captures images solely for Ai object recognition purposes, there is no human or facial recognition.

The robot collects different types of data necessary for operation and service improvement, as outlined in our Privacy Policy. Any data transmitted between the robot’s sensors and our services is encrypted to help ensure customers’ information remains completely secure.
