Dyson knows pets.
That's why the engineers at Dyson designed our vacuum cleaners with a range of features that ensure cleaning up after your pet is as painless as possible.
Why a Dyson is the most effective vacuum cleaner for pet owners
Motorised brushbar
Powerful suction alone isn’t sufficient to pick up stray pet hairs or dirt brought in from outdoors. So Dyson engineers developed an independently powered brush bar to deep clean carpets. Spinning at up to 5,400 revolutions per minute, the bristles are precisely positioned to work into carpet pile without obstructing the airflow.
HEPA filter
Dyson Animal vacuums are also fitted with a sealed HEPA filter to capture microscopic particles such as bacteria, pet dander, mould spores and other allergens a pet can bring into the home.
How Root Cyclone™ technology works
- Fibres and pet hair are separated out of the airflow and deposited in the bin
- Dirt is drawn into a powerful cyclone. Centrifugal forces of 500G fling larger dirt, debris, fibres and pet hair into the clear .
- Finally, a cluster of smaller, tighter cyclones generate centrifugal forces up to 150,000g, which extract particles as small as bacteria. You could fit 200 on this full-stop alone.
- By the time the air leaves a Dyson vacuum, it contains up to 150 times less mould and bacteria than the air you breathe.
Pet Facts
Cats and dogs should shed just twice a year
Cats and dogs are genetically programmed to shed their coats twice a year – once in autumn in preparation for winter and then in spring for summer. But electric lighting and central heating in our homes confuse their biorhythms – they no longer experience the seasonal changes in the temperature and length of day. As a result, domesticated cats and dogs shed all-year round.
It’s not pet hair that makes allergy sufferers sneeze
Contrary to popular opinion, it’s not pet hair that makes allergy sufferers sneeze and causes their eyes water. The allergens are actually proteins found in a pet’s saliva, urine and dander, which often collect in shed hair. There’s also no relation between the length of an animal’s hair and the severity of an allergy sufferer’s reaction.
Pet dander can last for six months in a home
Even if an animal is removed from a home or part of a house, its dander can remain as an allergen for up to six months. It collects in carpets, rugs, upholstery and curtains and can easily become airborne. Frequent cleaning with a Dyson Animal vacuum is the most effective way at removing pet dander from your home.
A natural cat repellent
An effective and unobtrusive way of keeping cats off furniture is to rub the upholstery with lemon or orange peel. Cats hate the smell of citrus and will stay away.
Dogs get sunburnt, too
A dog’s coat can’t offer enough protection from strong sun, so protect delicate areas with sunscreen. The bridge of the nose, the tips of ears and, if it’s really sunny, the belly should all be covered.
Pets suffer from allergies
Animals can suffer from allergies in the same way that people do. Fleabites are obvious but pollen and dust mites can also trigger allergic reactions. Regular vacuuming helps, removing pollen grains and dust mites from carpet and upholstery. Washing your pet’s bedding at 60°C will kill any dust mites living in it.
