No loss of suction power
Every Dyson vacuum uses patented Root Cyclone™ technology. Unlike other vacuums, it doesn’t lose suction power so it removes more dust, dirt and allergens from your home.
Only clean expelled air
Some vacuum cleaners can’t keep hold of all the dust they pick up – so they vent it back into your room. That explains the dusty, electrical smell. Dyson cyclone technology is 99.9% efficient at separating dust and dirt. Dyson cyclones can capture particles down to 0.5 microns (approximately 200 times smaller in diameter than human hair) – including pollen, mould and bacteria.
HEPA filter
Dyson Allergy and Animal machines have a sealed HEPA (High-efficiency Particle Airflow) filter to capture particles as small as 0.1 microns. That’s equivalent to a single particle of cigarette smoke.
How Root Cyclone™ technology works
- Fibres and pet hair are separated out of the airflow and deposited in the bin
- Dirt is drawn into a powerful cyclone. Centrifugal forces of 500G fling larger dirt, debris, fibres and pet hair into the clear bin.
- Finally, a cluster of smaller, tighter cyclones generate centrifugal forces up to 150,000g, which extract particles as small as bacteria. You could fit 200 on this full-stop alone.
- Dyson cyclones can capture particles down to 0.5 microns – including pollen, mould and bacteria.

Dyson upright and cylinder vacuums are approved by 12 allergy associations worldwide - including those with the most stringent tests. The approvals validate our asthma and allergy research. Only by studying the causes of asthma and allergens can we develop technology to remove them from the home.
British Allergy Foundation
Every Dyson upright and cylinder has the British Allergy Foundation Seal of Approval for restricting, reducing and removing allergens from the home. Advanced Root Cyclone™ technology captures microscopic allergens such as pollen grains and mould spores.
National Asthma Council of Australia
Dyson upright and cylinders are certified by the National Asthma Council of Australia as part of its Sensitive Choice program. Only products that reduce or remove allergens from the home are accepted. Dyson is the sole vacuum cleaner manufacturer for homes in the program.
Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America
Dyson machines are certified Asthma Friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America and the Asthma Society of Canada. Vacuums must reduce allergens even when full - while minimising any increase in airborne allergen levels.
AHA Allergie Suisse
The Allergie Suisse approval is one of the most stringent in the world - vacuums must provide constant suction and separation performance to ensure no loss of effectiveness. Approved machines must remove 80% of dust particles, dust mite allergens and cat hair allergens.
